ReCAF Solar and Water Tanks Success Stories

Miseyeki Kesoi – Water Closer to Home

For years, Miseyeki walked several kilometers every morning to fetch water, carrying heavy containers under the hot Ngorongoro sun. After ReCAF installed solar-powered tanks in her community, clean water is now just a short walk away. Miseyeki says she saves hours each day, time she now invests in her beadwork business. What was once a daily burden has turned into new opportunities for productivity and rest.

Naarmakaa Kingi – Healthier Family, Healthier Livelihoods

Naarmakaa used to spend a lot of time fetching water. With access to reliable solar-pumped tanks, her family now drinks clean water without compromise. She reports fewer cases of waterborne illness in her household and her goats are healthier too. For Naarmakaa, the tanks are not just about water—they are about health, resilience, and reducing financial strain.

Normoujet Kilorit – Children Learning Without Worry

As a mother of three school-going children, Normoujet often worried about her daughters missing classes to help fetch water. Since ReCAF's solar water project, her children now attend school regularly. She joyfully shares that her eldest daughter has improved in her studies because she has time to focus on learning instead of long treks for water. For Normoujet, water access is directly shaping her children's education and future.

Norkitoip Leboo – A Community Leader in Action

Norkitoip was among the first to join the local water management committee set up after ReCAF's installation of solar-powered tanks. She now helps mobilize households to contribute to maintenance funds, ensuring the system remains sustainable. Beyond benefiting from clean water herself, Norkitoip has become a leader ensuring her entire village secures this lifeline for years to come. She calls the tanks "a gift that teaches us responsibility and unity."

ReCAF Women's Economic Empowerment Success Stories

Normoipoi Loosidan – From Dependence to Independence

Before joining ReCAF's loan hub, Normoipoi relied entirely on her husband's income, often struggling to cover even basic needs. With her first small loan, she bought potatoes and started selling at the local market. The steady income gave her confidence to expand into beadwork, which now supports her children's schooling. Normoipoi proudly says she no longer waits for money—she earns it herself, becoming a symbol of independence for other women in her village.

Nalari Alameroi – Breaking Barriers with Beadwork

Nalari was known for her bead artistry but lacked the capital to make her craft a real business. Through ReCAF, she accessed a loan and training, enabling her to buy materials in bulk and meet larger orders. Today, her jewelry is sold in nearby towns and to tourists, bringing in consistent income. Nalari has employed two younger women, proving that empowerment multiplies. Her success is a living testimony that traditional skills, when supported, can drive modern livelihoods.

Noongipa Naing'unya – Investing in Livestock, Securing a Future

As a pastoralist woman, Noongipa always dreamed of owning her own livestock rather than depending on family herds. ReCAF's program made that possible. With her loan, she bought two cows and two goats, which have since multiplied. She now sells milk and uses the income to cover household needs and pay school contributions. For Noongipa, having her own herd is more than economic—it is dignity, security, and a future for her children.

Naomi Oltirara – An Entrepreneur with Big Dreams

Naomi, one of the members of ReCAF's loan hub in Monduli, joined with the goal of helping her family. She started a small sugar-selling business using her loan, and within months, she had doubled her investment. Her earnings now support her children's school costs and contribute to family expenses. Naomi inspires her fellow women by showing that women, when empowered, can lead change in their households and communities.
